When I grow up

"just like a caterpillar grows up to be a butterfly, I am going to grow up to be an Uncle Oga" -Cody

I am not sure where this train of thought came from, but I laughed for a while.

Cody's new nickname

So I guess last night as the kids were at Grandma's he decided to add to Nate's nickname. Cody has had an imaginary friend named Doag. I guess he decided to add on to Uncle Oga and call his brother Uncle Oga Doag. So weird...

North Pole

I took the kids with me to the gym and as I was unloading them from the van, I had both sliding doors opened. It was pretty windy and Nate's socks and random paper was flying everywhere. Cody looked very serious when he told me, "Mom, you need to be careful, everything is going to fly to the North Pole. Do you know that Santa lives at the North Pole?" I think he has presents on the brain all the time.

Special Powers

Cody told me today that because I had blue eyes, I can see in the dark. He has brown eyes so he can't see in the dark, therefore he needs to use a flashlight. How will night vision come in handy? I am still trying to figure out where that idea came from.

What's with the underwear?

Cody must be at some point in his development where he loves his underwear. This is something that I kinda hope he grows out of before he gets into elementary. I have been trying to let him have his independence and pick his clothes and dress himself. By the way, he regularly chooses to wear his "TPIR" shirt from aunt Becky. He pulled out his cute boxer briefs and said, "no," and then pulls out his Spongebob underwear and says "I want to wear my party underwear." I might have to agree that Spongebob says party. Smart kid.

And earlier this morning he asked me if I was watching "KNRS" (which is the radio station that his dad listens to-I guess) or HGTV. That kid is watching, watch yourselves....

On the way home

I am loving the age that Nathan is at right now. He is just starting to say more words each day and almost able to carry a short conversation. But so far my favorite thing that Nate has said is, as I was on the computer doing my FB thing, he said, "a NEEEW Hot Tub!". I think it is so funny the influence his brother has on his developing vocabulary. So funny. On the way home from our date night tonight, I think Nathan had way too much fun at Grandma's and Grandpa's that he kept saying "you, you, Marky, ha ha." pretty much all the way home. The new things he is coming up with is so cute. I am sure that there will be more from him as well.

Feb 26, 2010

I was intrigued while watching that Julia Child movie the other day that I need a new outlet besides Facebook to share some funny things in my daily life. They are mostly things that Cody or Nate says that I would love to share and document, but I don't think that most of my "friends" care to hear about that stuff on a daily basis. So, here goes. I have to start with Cody's underwear comment the other day. I found his new Wonder Pets underwear (which is his FAV show right now) and noticed that they hadn't been worn yet. So I suggested to him, "hey let's put on your new Wonder Pets underwear." He said exactly,

"I don't want to wear those, they are too awesome."

Can't wait to see what silly quote comes up next...
